new frocks!!

I sort of skipped fall and jumped right into Christmas!!  But before that, here are some new frocks that I made for a show I'm doing in Eureka, IL in November.

From left to right,
Lime & Berry; Patchwork Pink

Big Flower & Berry; Meadow Floral

I found a super cute fabric for the holidays from Michael Miller and his Ta Dot Berry coordinated with it so well!
Lil Man wanted in on the picture taking!

I'll have limited quantities & sizes of all the dresses pictured on the 11th.  Once I get more details about the show's venue, I'll share them for ya!

easter decorations

I saw this centerpiece on pinterest and couldn't wait to put it together!  I got the jellybeans and silk flowers from Dollar Tree and the Peeps and vase from Target.  All in all, a pretty cheap and easy Easter decoration!!
**********
Also from pinterest - coloring eggs with koolaid!  We used five flavors - lemonade {with a pinch of orange}, black cherry, lemonlime, grape and orange.  You mix one packet of koolaid with 2/3 cup of water.  The lemonade & limeade took a little longer to get good color, but the rest colored pretty quickly - without the stinky smell of vinegar!
Here are some of the eggs we colored, top left to right, grape & orange.  Bottom left to right, lemonade & black cherry.  I'm not sure, but I think the small dots are from bubbles that were on the egg when we took them out of the color?!  I was happy with how they turned out!

Jack O' Lantern Jar Family

I stumbled upon a tutorial for {Jack O' Lantern Jars} and I fell in love!!!
I decided that the kiddos and I were going to make these after school today. We have tons of jars laying around, so all we had to get was orange tissue paper!

They were super easy to make and the kiddos even enjoyed it!

Using mod podge, adhere 1" x the length of your jar strips of tissue paper.

Cut out a jack o' lantern face from black paper. {Not So Idle Hands} has face print outs, that is what we used! Mod podge the face onto the jar.

Paint the very top of the jar green and mod podge over the paint, once the paint is dry.

I put the fake tea lights in ours...

Holiday Dress

I have mentioned N's Christmas dress before, in this post. Before Christmas day, I ended up shortening the dress by about an inch. Before noon on Christmas day, I took off the apron. I ended up liking it a lot better this way!!
Before, with apron...
After, without apron...

Mod Podge Ornaments

I was at Hobby Lobby last week and they had all their Christmas things half off! I grabbed these 4" clear glass ornaments, not sure what I was going to do with them, but figured at half off I could figure something out!! I attempted {this} and got frustrated when it wasn't working right!! My second attempt was Mod Podge-ing fabric squares onto the ornaments. Super easy and super cute! I hung them up on some pine branches to dry...the Bears one {above} is still a little wet, but the Mod Podge dries clear and acrylic-like.

Holiday Dress

After the fabric drama mentioned in {this post}, I went back to Hobby Lobby looking for the next best combination. What I came up with isn't as whimsical as the first, but I still really like it! I used a different pattern, See & Sew #3889. As with the last holiday dress, I added the apron myself. I did it differently this time though, making the apron completely separate and then stitching it on at the end. The apron took awhile, though!! It is sewn on until the side seams and then left to tie. I really like how it turned out!! Paired with her Matilda Jane PR Tights and her sassy boots, she ready for the holidays!!

Holiday Apron Dress

This dress was made from McCall's pattern #M5918...the first commercial pattern I've ever purchased!! I added some things, because that seems to be what I do! I added a panel of fabric at the bottom, an apron at the waist (I measured one of the apron's on N's Matilda Jane dresses) and (drum roll please!) my new tag!! I had tags made that say, "My Mama Made It" and I LOVE them!! Unfortunately, this will not be N's holiday dress...I had made one with the intent that she'd wear it. Then I washed it and it was snug with a long sleeved tee underneath. So I had a co-worker try it on her daughter and with some adjustments (the bottom panel for length and longer straps) it will be Bella's holiday dress! I went back to Hobby Lobby to get more of the same fabric for N and they were out! I nearly cried! After pacing the fabric racks for awhile, I've come up with a new combo, but you'll have to wait for that post!!
Back to the commercial pattern thing...I cut all the pieces according to the pattern but I chucked the pattern/directions when it came time to assemble. In the end I think I did everything the way they did, just my way! ;) These are my favorite type of dresses on N because of her body shape, so be prepared to see many more of these!
What clothing items are you making for the holidays??
