DIY felt ornaments

I saw {this post} from Somewhat Simple the other day and I knew that I wanted to make something similar with Natty's help!

She helped me pick out sheets of felt.  I drew circles of different sizes - the largest is 2.5" in diameter, the middle is 2" and the smallest is 1.5".  She and I used the spare buttons that come with her Matilda Jane clothing and then we found some extra lace trim that I had laying around.
We cut out the circles, layered them with hot glue and glued the button on the top and trim on the underneath.
I think they're adorable!!

I'm working on some other handmade holiday items that I'll share soon!

scrap doll

I saw {this tutorial} yesterday and fell in love!!!
They didn't offer a pattern, so I made my own and Lil Miss and I tried it out tonight!
Here are the pattern pieces I used.
To print your own:  click on the pictures, right click and "save picture as".  Go into your files and print the picture as "full page photo".  All pieces should be the right size this way!

I followed {the tutorial} to a "t" and found that it was pretty easy overall.  The sewing/construction of the pieces was really easy.  Lil Miss helped out by pushing the foot pedal while I fed the pieces through the machine.  She also helped stuff the pieces...I would recommend reinforcing the openings if you're going to have a little one help you stuff!! :)
Adding the face was the most fun because it was like seeing her come to life!  Lil Miss wanted them to share as many of the same characteristics as possible.
We worked on this project for about 2 hours on two evenings, so overall, not too bad.  Hand sewing the details obviously took the most time.  The hair was the hardest part for me just because I've never done anything like that before, but it turned out just perfect!!
Lil Miss has named her Natty Kat! :)

sew-on fabric label DIY

As I mentioned {here}, I made my own fabric tags and I thought I'd share how!
I purchased Printed Treasures fabric paper at Joann's (with a 50% off coupon!) and it's worked really well for me.  There are lots of brands of fabric paper out there, but this is the only one I've tried.

Step #1 - Once you've created your logo or image, print onto the fabric paper.  Let dry for about a minute.

Step #2 - Peel off the paper backing.

Step #3 - Submerge in cold water to make sure the ink is set.

Step #4 - Lay flat to dry.

Step #5 - Cut out (if needed).  I ironed the long edges down and top stitched across.

Step #6 - Trim up threads and uneven edges.
Step #7 - Fold short edges and sew on!
There are so many tag options out there but this seems to work for me for now!
Stay tuned for a give-away later this week!!!
