I made my almost 2 year old nephews crayon holders for part of their Easter gifts! I love how they turned out!
Here's what you'll need:
a. 5 x 8.5" outside fabric
b. 5 x 8.5" inside fabric
c. 6 x 8.5" pocket fabric
d. 5 x 8.5" fusible interfacing
e. 17" ribbon
Here's what you do: 1. Fold your pocket piece {c.} in half hotdog style aka length-wise and press. 2. While you're iron is on, press the fusible interfacing {d.} to the inside piece {b.} 3. Pin the inside piece {b.} to the pocket piece {c}. Line up the open edge of the pocket piece {c.} to a long edge of the inside piece {b.}. 4. Measure in 1.25" from the edge and mark a straight line up & down the pocket piece {as shown below}. Measure in 1" and mark again....all the way to the end of your fabric. You'll have 1.25" left at the other end. {see below} 5. Stitch on the lines you marked, backstitching where the pocket meets the inside fabric. 6. Pin the outside fabric piece {a.} right sides facing to the pocket/inside piece. Make sure to pin your ribbon on one of the short ends and tuck inside. Stitch on both long sides and one short side {the side with your ribbon}. Leave one short side open for turning. Use a 5/8" seam allowance.
Very simple directions. Great crayon rolls!
